Actos Side Effects (for the Patient): Normally patients have no, or minor Actos Side Effects. The common Actos Side Effects found in some users are: Cold-like symptoms; headache; muscle aches; sinus pain; sore throat; weight gain. Immediate medical care is needed when some severe Actos Side Effects are noticed such as: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blurred vision or other vision changes; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; symptoms of heart failure (eg, shortness of breath; sudden, unexplained weight gain); symptoms of liver problems (eg, dark urine; stomach pain; unexplained nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite; yellowing of the skin or eyes); symptoms of low blood sugar (eg, anxiety; chills, increased hunger, headache; increased dizziness or drowsiness; tremors); unusual bone pain; unusual tiredness or weakness. The following serious adverse reactions are recorded in different clinical trials.

Reports from Clinical Studies on Actos Side Effects:
Reports say adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in practice because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions.
These clinical studies says they have studied Over 8500 patients with type 2 diabetes have been treated with Actos in randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trials, including 2605 patients with type 2 diabetes and macrovascular disease treated with Actos in the PROactive clinical trial. In both these trials, over 6000 patients have been treated with Actos for 6 months or longer, over 4500 patients have been treated with Actos for one year or longer, and over 3000 patients have been treated with Actos for at least 2 years. These is a huge difference between each category of people.

The types of Actos Side Effects reported when pioglitazone was used in combination with sulfonylurea, metformin or insulin were equivalent to those reported during pioglitazone monotherapy with the exception of an increase in the occurrence of edema in the insulin combination study.
Upper respiratory tract infections, headache, sinusitis, myalgia, tooth disorder and pharyngitis were reported slightly more frequently than placebo in clinical trials. Apart from the above Actos Side Effects Endocrine, Hematologic, Cardiovascular, Hepatic and Ocular rare Actos Side Effects were also reported from different clinical studies.
